| Ever never bothered doing something because you thought you weren’t good enough?? Ever felt that you were just born cranky? Then welcome to the world of teenage pessimism. |

So what's a girl to do? To attain a brighter outlook, you have to be more true to yourself and nurture your sense of self worth. See a bad situation as a challenge, not a setback. We know that that's easier said than done so we've compiled some suggestions to help you cross over to the sunnier side of life.
1. Nike was right - just do it. Don't let fear of not being perfect prevent you from trying something new. Even if you don't do as well as you'd like the first few times, keep in mind that you've challenged yourself, which takes guts.
2. Analyze your friends. If your friends are not supportive, why bother hanging out with them? Maybe you'll find more in common with people you meet sharing an interest...art lessons, mountain biking, drama club.
3. Do good and you'll feel good. The feeling of personal accomplishment that comes with donating your time and energies to a good cause has been documented in hundreds of studies.
4. Get physical. Physical activity is a big-time spirit booster; mood enhancing hormones are released.
5. Keep a diary. Develop your passion and send those dark, negative, full-of-stress messages away. |
