Turn Down Into Up
It’s great when you wake up in an amazing mood for no reason at all. But we’ve also been there when you just feel rubbish. So how do you change it?
The Do List

1: Move! Give your body, mind and spirit a jolt.

3-minute perk: Do jumping jacks or dance to the radio.

Keep it going: Run, ride your bike or head to the swings. Get outside!

2: Eat Happy Foods! Can certain food make you happy? YES!

3-minute perk: Chomp on a banana or berries for a mood boost.

Keep it going: Choose natural, healthy snacks.

3: Be nosey! Your brain connects happy smells with happy feelings.

3-minute perk: Walk into a bakery, chocolatier or coffee house and take a whiff.

Keep it going: Use lavender, chamomile or geranium body wash. Apply scented moisturiser or perfume after.

4: DO Something…  Anything! The opposite of laziness is energy.

3-minute perk: take a shower, call a friend, play with the dog…

Keep it going: Make a list of ‘happy’ activities to try out if a bad mood arrives.

The Don’t List

While you’re seeking out positive activities, make sure you:

Limit sugary snacks, junk food or caffeine.

Don’t mope.- bad moods can grow! Treat it like a little brother – ignore and it’ll go away!

If you find yourself more down than up for more than a few days in a row, tell a grownup. Talking is a great way to work out your feelings.

Balancing Act

The next time you wake up grumpy think of your mood as a swing – what comes down can go up again!
