FINDING YOUR FACE SHAPE
There is actually a scientific way to determine your face shape – but it’s tricky so get a friend to help.
Use a tape measure to measure your face across the top of your cheekbones at the widest point (1). Write down that number. Run the tape measure across your face to measure, horizontally, the widest part of your jaw line. (2) Write down that number. Measure across the widest part of your forehead, above your brow line and below your hairline (3). Write down that number. Finally, run the tape measure from the tip of your hairline to the bottom of your chin (4). Write down that number. Now check out your face shape!
OBLONG – Your face is longer than it is wide
OVAL – Your face length is almost exactly 1 ½ times longer than the width
ROUND – Your face is about as wide as it is long
HEART – You have wide cheekbones and/or forehead and a narrow jaw
SQUARE – Your forehead and jaw line widths are close to equal
WHAT HAIRCUTS ARE MOST FLATTERING FOR YOU?
OBLONG – Add some width with face framing layers. Avoid one-length, straight hair.
OVAL – Your face shape is considered ‘perfect’ – any haircut will look awesome!
ROUND – An off-centre parting will build height and volume. Avoid anything that poofs out mushroom-like.
HEART – Flatter those cheekbones with a side parting and chin length or longer hair.
SQUARE – Soften your look with wispy layers and short/medium length hair. Stay away from centre partings and straight fringes!
Now that you know the shape of your face, go crazy with a cool haircut! |
