Have these worries kept you from trying out for a sport? It's true, joining a team does make you busier, but it also adds to the quality of your life and teaches you life lessons.
Meet friends, learn skills
First, by practicing a sport, you'll burn anywhere from 300-500 calories a day. You'll also strengthen your cardiovascular system and improve your muscle tone. So wear that cool dress knowing you look great!
Second, in our competitive society there are winners, losers, lucky shots, and bad calls. Sports help you prepare. Playing on a team teaches you how to work together and prepares you to deal with the ups and downs of life.
Third, deep personal bonds develop by sharing exciting victories and dealing with losses with your teammates.
All work and no play....
Finally, let's face it, college is around the corner. And what they say is true: Extra-curricular activities are important. Selection committees look for well-rounded, active, involved candidates - like you.
So stop wondering. Sports are great for improving your high school experience and preparing you for your future. Go for it!! |
