Indulge, pamper, relax, and get that spa-clean feeling – without even leaving the house!
First make sure you have the bathroom to yourself. You don’t want to be interrupted by your little bro while you’re in the middle of relaxing with a facepack on!
Give the bathroom a bit of a spa-makeover: make sure it’s as tidy as possible, add to the atmosphere with one or two scented candles, maybe some relaxing music or the radio – but remember to use a battery-operated appliance – water and electricity don’t mix, and get your best fluffy towels and bathrobe ready.
Have all your treatments laid out so you don’t have to fuss around. There are loads of home treatments you can do for yourself - try some of these ideas from the beinggirl spa for starters!
Peachy clean face
Fruit does wonders, and as boffins will tell you it’s all down to what are called alpha-hydroxy acids. Get rid of dead skin and put your best face forward with this yummy fruity mask.
You’ll need:
A peach
A tablespoon of honey
A tablespoon of oatmeal
Get a peach and cook it til it’s really soft. Then mash it up using a fork and add a tablespoon of honey and oatmeal. Stir the mixture until it is thick and then apply your peach mask to clean skin. Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash it off with warm water.
Lovely locks
Fab shiny hair is easier than you think. Give your hair some TLC with this honey-water-lemon combo.
Indulge, pamper, relax, and get that spa-clean feeling – without even leaving the house!
You’ll need:
A teaspoon of honey
4 cups of warm water
A squeeze of lemon (if you’re blonde)
Stir the honey into the warm water. If you’re blonde, add a squeeze of lemon too. After shampooing, pour the mixture through your hair and don’t rinse it out. Dry your hair as usual.
Tame your tresses
Add shine and get rid of the dreaded frizz. It sounds a bit gross but olive oil is one of nature’s secret treasures!
You’ll need:
Mix two whole eggs with four tablespoons of olive oil. Smooth through hair. Wrap head with plastic wrap, and leave in hair for 10 minutes. Rinse well.
Body buff
Exfoliating regularly (every 2 weeks or so) removes dead skin and leaves your skin clean, fresh and glowing.
You’ll need:
1/2 cup of brown sugar
Juice from half a freshly squeezed orange
A teaspoon of vitamin E oil
Mix the brown sugar, freshly squeezed orange juice and vitamin E oil in a bowl. Get in the bath and scrub a handful of the ingredients into your skin in a circular motion. Rinse off the scrub. When you get out of the bath, put load of moisturiser on and relax while your skin soaks it up.
All these remedies are tried and tested but everyone is different, so if you are trying something new on your skin, remember to do a patch test at least 24 hours before doing the treatment. Simply make up a small amount of the mixture and put a dab on the inside of your wrist or in the crook of your elbow. Then put a plaster on it and leave it for at least 12 hours. If you have any kind of reaction, don’t do the treatment! Give yourself a pedicure or manicure instead!
