Obsession--It's Not Just a Perfume |

|
Your teenage years will be full of crushes on different guys. Crushes are normal and healthy, but sometimes a crush gets out of control and turns into an obsession. There are a few ways to know if you've crossed the line into an unhealthy fixation. One sign of an unhealthy obsession is that it takes over your life. Your grades suffer, you neglect activities, you avoid friends, and treat your family badly- especially over a long period of time.. Another sign is that you find yourself doing things that you shouldn't or wouldn't normally do. How to Deal. There are a few things you can do if you find yourself obsessed. Since crushes can screw up your reality, be honest about how "real" your fantasy relationship is. If it's impossible (you're in love with Leonardo DiCaprio) or inappropriate (you're crushing on your French teacher or best friend's father) you have to face reality and move on. If there's a possibility for a relationship, it's best to let your crush know how you feel. Although you may be setting yourself up for rejection, it's better than keeping your life on hold any longer. The best way to get over a one-way crush is to focus on other things. When you start to think about him- stop. Fill up your schedule with things that don't remind you of him. |
