July 2010:Fun in the Sun Without the Burn? |
Summer is finally here and you’re probably already planning parties at the beach, laying out by the pool, or a long holiday in the Mediterranean. Before you run to the beach in hopes of getting the perfect tan, prepare your skin for the sun! You don’t want to step onto the beach pasty as ever! Self—tanning will do the trick to give you a golden hue. Self—tanning often brings to mind orangey, streaky and blotchy thoughts. It can be a little scary, but there are steps you can take to get a natural looking, at—home tan. • Always match your skin tone. • Prepare your skin for self—tanning. 3–4 days before, start exfoliating and heavily moisturise. • When you’re exfoliating, concentrate on your rough spots— feet, elbows, ankles, and knees. Keep washing your hands throughout the process. Your secret will be out when you have orange palms and fingernails. Spray tans at the salon usually look more natural than the at—home version, but expect to empty your wallet! When outside, wear sun block. The sun causes harmful effects on the skin such as sunburn, cancer, and early signs of aging. Bring an umbrella to the beach so you can give yourself some shade and a break from the sun. Wearing sun block and opting for self—tanning solutions will give you healthy, young—looking skin. Think about the future — most skin damage won’t show up for years and years! |
