Is it hard to remove a tampon?

Anna's Answer: It shouldn’t be painful to remove a tampon. Try relaxing; if you are tense it will make removal difficult. Normally if a tampon is fully saturated it should slide out quite easily as your muscles naturally loosen and let it go. If it doesn’t come out easily or is a little painful it probably means you don’t need to change it yet as it hasn’t absorbed all the fluid it can. If after 8 hours this is the case then you may want to try a lower absorbency tampon. On light flow days you may have to pull the withdrawal cord a little more.

The Tampax® Compak Effortless Tampon has a new softer layer that makes it easier to remove. Read more about it >
