Take the stress out of going back to school (and stay healthy) with these handy tips
Stressing about going back to school is bad for your health! Worrying about things like your hair, your tan (or lack of it) or how little time you’re going to have now takes up precious mind space that could be put to better use – like planning how you’re going to pick up that hottie who’s just appeared in your class. Be prepared with these essentials and everything else will be a breeze.
Get a good haircut
Just before you go back to school, get a new haircut. Hitting the playground with a chic new hairstyle is a sure-fire way of getting noticed. And it’s one way of helping you feel great all the time, even when you’ve got double maths!
Top up on the fake tan
Don’t worry if you didn’t get a great tan when you went away, or if it’s faded. Give yourself a top up with the fake stuff a few days before you go back and you’ll be the picture of health. Don’t go overboard, the tango look is memorable but for all the wrong reasons!
Be comfortable in your new uniform
Make sure you’ve sorted your new school uniform look before the morning of the first day back. And by sorted, we mean adding your style to it to make it look how you want it to look. Decide how long (or short) you want the skirt to be, work out how you’re going to wear your shirt and see how your shoes look. Finding out your uniform makes you look like a 12-year boy on the first day back is not a great start!
Carry some healthy snacks in your bag
Make a pact with yourself to ditch the junk food. Forget about nipping to the vending machine at break time for a choccie bar or crisps. Instead have a small pack of healthy snacks in your bag for those moments when you feel peckish. Things like nuts, seeds and dried fruit are tasty and so good for you – you positively glow with health!
Drink more water
Make sure you keep yourself hydrated by sipping water throughout the day. Carry a small bottle with you in your bag. Your skin will thank you for it and you’ll be working the dewy look in no time.
Make more me time
Give yourself time out to chill out on your own. And we don’t mean on your own in your room IM-ing your mates. We mean doing stuff on your own, reading a book, watching a movie, drawing, trying on clothes, or just thinking. Being on your own helps you collect your thoughts, think about stuff and get to know yourself better.
Be prepared
We’re not suggesting you walk around with a huge bag full of stuff, but it helps to keep little things like Tampax Compak and Always to hand just in case. Oh and an umbrella too!
