Then have your own!
Summer wouldn’t be summer without a good festival or two. But if you can’t make it to any of the biggies this August, there’s no need for you to miss out on the fun. Do it yourself with our guide to Beinggirl-stock!
You'll need:
Outdoor space
Ideally a small field, but if you live in a town a big(ish) garden will do
Music
Do everything you can (flattery, bribery, blackmail…) to persuade your musically inclined mates that this is the most important gig they’ll ever do. Unless you’ve got very technically-minded friends or parents they’ll being playing acoustic sets, but remind them that all the best bands had to start somewhere and guerrilla gigs are all the rage…see the Libertines, the Artics, the Klaxons, Lily Allen…
Don’t forget to film their sets for when they’re famous!
DJs
To keep the party going between bands. Very important!
Tasty outdoor food
Persuade your mates and even your mum to help you make some pizzas, mini-burgers, salads and dips. Set up a table and let everyone help themselves. Better still, get all your mates to bring a different dish and you’ll soon have a feast!
Fruity summer smoothies
Get the party going with something fruity! Serve fruit juices, iced tea and homemade lemonade. Let your imagination run wild with your own non-alcoholic mocktails or check out our super smoothie suggestions here: http://www.beinggirl.co.uk/advice/health.php?id=19
Face paints and Henna tattoos
There’s always one of your mates who disappears at a festi only to return from her explorations with amazing henna tattoos or face paint, so why not ask her to set up a stall at your festival? You can pick up templates for temporary tats cheaply from market stalls and beauty shops.
Hippies
Less common at festivals now than in the past, but still a good/funny fixture if you can find any! Otherwise you can always invite that other UK festival fixture….
….Kate Moss
A festival wouldn’t be a festival without la Moss, but while it’s unlikely she’s going to turn up to yours, you’re bound to have a friend who fancies herself as Britain’s favourite model! But no Pete Doherty wannabees please!
And finally..
Make sure you ask your parents’ permission before you put on your festival and it’s a good idea to let your neighbours know if the noise is going to affect them too!
